It's About That Time Again

Here it is March 30, 2014 and we had snow yesterday in southern Ohio.  We're not on the Ohio River but we have enough people from Kentucky that sometimes the area is referred to as Little Kentucky.  Kentucky basketball is a close 1st place runner up to the local Dayton Flyers, the Cinderella team of the NCAA tournament this year.  Right now Michigan is beating that team down south.  That too is a toss up on approval since this is Big 10 country and Ohio State rules.  Go Buckeyes.

Well, now that the round ball games are almost over and the only true sport is almost ready to march towards who is going to have the honors of keeping guard over the Stanley Cup, it is time for the car shows to begin.  These two pictures are from August of 2011.  The Austin Healey doesn't make it to the British Car show held at Eastwood Park.  The MGA was a Top Choice that year.

Working With Photo Editing Software

Two of the same views edited (merged together) with OnOne Perfect Photo Suite 8 with a 30 free trial.  Starts with Lightroom5.  The tree lines are the same but the zoom is obviously different.  The field in the foreground lies between the two tree lines.  Front tree line was taken on a rainy day and the back tree line was taken on a fall evening with the moon coming up early.  Little distortion but this is first attempt and not meant to be perfect.  Decision time....do I buy or not.  eBook and video comes with the package.  mmmmm!  I hate decisions, suppose to have given them up with retirement.

The Dream

You won't find this manufacturer holding back safety information for years about faulty ignition switches and if you did, there would be no  brand loyalty for me.  One should only have brand loyalty to companies that are truly honest to their customers and NOT their Elite board members and or investors only.  Oh, and their wallets for the bonuses.

It's a Beautiful Mornin'

"It's a beautiful mornin'   ahhh
I think I'll go outside a while
An jus smile
Just take in some clean fresh air boy
Ain't no sense in stayin inside
If the weather's fine an' you got the time
It's your chance to wake up and plan another brand new day
Either way
It's a mornin'    ahhh"

Ahhh, to be 30 again.

This was originally a B/W that I've played around with.  It was taken 40 days before my daughter was born.  The big guy, #6 is Kurt McGlauklin otherwise known as Stan The Man The Puppet Man.  He was on a kids show on Channel 22 where he did puppet shows.  He traveled the local area as well.  On the ice he was known as The Animal.  He played Mega-City Hockey as well as being in the Junior Gems Division.  The JG's were associated with the Gems hockey team which was an IHL team.  They were part of the Boston Bruins and NY Rangers or Islanders I think.  In this picture he's checking on me as I had just taken a hard shot up top.

I'll Take The Snow

Good ole Mother Nature has taken a toll on my attitude about winter.  There are those in the US that have had it worse than we have here in southern Ohio but I still want to rant.  All we heard for about two weeks was the Polar Vortex this and the Polar Vortex that.  At one point when it was sub zero and the wind made it worse I thought, wow how fitting is this, our furnace won't fire.  I figured it was the igniter and in the middle of the night nothing is open.  Turned out that the gas supply companies here in the Midwest from Chicago to the east couldn't push enough gas through the lines.  It was a gas supply "black out" like the electric in the heat of the summer.  Our furnace started funning but the air was cool and just couldn't get up to 69 degrees.  Our neighbors to the north of us weren't so luck.  we are in a fairly new plate and they had a pipe line break thus they had no gas at all.  Two homes out of the 155 here have electric heat....oh so expensive.....but they were laughing at this point I would imagine.

Last weekend Mother Nature did it again, she gave us upper 50 degree weather just to have the temps drop to negative numbers the next day almost.  This weekend we are to get the effects of the California rains in ice or snow, depending on which side the dividing line is along I-70.  Forecast is for 3" to 12".  Quite a spread if you ask me.

I'm tired of winter, but if I have a choice.....I'll take the snow over the ice.
