On Display

Just playing around with a small metal Porsche that sits in my computer room.  Can't call it an office, I gave that up with retirement.  Working people have offices.  At any rate, I was watching the Daytona 24 HR race and decided to take a shot of this desktop car.  Eliminated the background added some color, the car is all chrome and voila.  Not too sure about the border.

Books

Good reading if not some great pictures in these books.  I worked for GM for 22 yrs.  Proud of what I did but not so proud of what they have become.  I've been gone for 12 years and it seems to have gotten worse.  I will admit that they do still make innovative products and have led the way in many items but the book on the bottom and the next two up are are about an even more inventive car.  The you have "Go like HELL" where Ford beats Ferrari with the GT-40 is a great history read.  Out on the side is "the unfair advantage" which is about Mark Donahue (deceased) and how he made every machine, no matter who made it win.  Roger Penske was a big part of his winnings but it was Mark's determination and dedication that got him into the winners circle.  The scariest race car ever built was the Porsche 917.  Many drivers couldn't handle the raw speed of this machine.  Mark won time after time in it.  This was before they started limiting horse power and other factors to control the speeds being driven.  Unfortunately Mark died in a practice run.

Weather Related?

Well, spring has come and so have the rains.  Flood Watches and Warnings are out for counties all around the Dayton, OH area.  It's is amazing how we just came off one of the longest, or so it seems, snowy winters and people are having issues with driving in the rain.  Well, maybe what they need is a set of these racing rain tires used on cars that attain straight line speeds of near 200mph and corners of 100+.  Only problem is they don't like dry roads and tend to start coming apart as they and the road surface heat up.

This is Melanie Snow's car in the garage at Mid-Ohio Raceway in Lexington, OH.  She's always warning the drivers behind her that the roads are going to be difficult to negotiate with her in front of them.  At the time this was taken she and her husband shared the driving responsibilities as required by the ALMS series.  Today her husband has retired from driving so her co-driving partner now is her son. 

The Dream

You won't find this manufacturer holding back safety information for years about faulty ignition switches and if you did, there would be no  brand loyalty for me.  One should only have brand loyalty to companies that are truly honest to their customers and NOT their Elite board members and or investors only.  Oh, and their wallets for the bonuses. 

My Digital Darkroom

As time passes I build upon my digital darkroom, making my work flow better and easier. At first I started with the L shaped desk so I could have the desktop  and laptop computers available, sometimes at the same time. Now I even set my iPad up with the other two with I get real busy in cleaning up files and space.

I was using a closet to store my stuff in because I just couldn't decide on which bookcase I wanted or the style. Finally I found this at Target. Helped me keep in a budget. They make a 6 hole case but I have a strange angled wall that the 4 hole cabinet just fit in. Then I needed another table for my printer which would allow me to clear desk space so I also got the 2 hole cabinet.  I picked out 4 bins so I wouldn't just be throwing stuff on a shelf and a place to store printer paper.

I have Joe DiMaggio watching over everything and my two favorite cars, Porsche/Ferrari, sitting and waiting to take me where ever I may need to go and lastly the tools I need to make my camera work properly. Darn camera just doesn't know how to work without some help.

Old Ford

With nothing to really do today I took some time to edit a photo. It's an old Ford. Every June there is a car show put on by The Taj Ma Garaj, a local garage that specializes in foreign cars and more specifically Porsches. The owner, John Dixon also has a Porsche Museum hear that can be rented out for whatever type of an event you have http://www.tajmagaraj.com/index.php . In June he has the what is called the Speed Fest. It lasts for about a month, fancy diners, covered bridge drives, a kart race where the cars are small like go-karts but with bodies, an autocross the day of the car show and of course the car show Kruze-In. All this for The Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House as well as benefits for the local Epilipsy Foundation. He takes nothing.

This isn't a Porsche but it was still a neat car. Just an old Ford A series I believe. I've learned that I'm going to have to start taking notes of what I take. Just a little noise and color with a simple dumb boarder.
