Tax Day Surprise

Was this sent by the Government to remind everybody how nasty this day came be to some?  About 2" in most places overnight.  It was one of those wet sticking pretty snowfalls.  Of course along with the snow was the temps going from mid 70's to sub 30's climbing to high of 35.  Today is better....mid 50's.

Trying To Catch Up

It has been a while since I have posted anything here.  No real excuse since this winter has been so crappy and we were pretty much locked into the house since the wife had hip surgery and the only running was for essentials by me.  She couldn't handle the ice conditions plus she really had very little stamina.  What I did do was take and clean up pictures so I will post a few of my endeavors hear.  Click to enlarge as usual.

Not my house but a neighbors.

I call this Painted Sky.  I found these clouds needed no editing.

Contrast of color was just interesting to me.

Converted to black and white.  Used my 18-270mm lens at 18mm to create a micro.

Another as above but left the color alone.

These too were in the bouquet that was sent to my wife after her surgery.  Intentional blurring.

I titled this one Where Are They All Going?

Just a vignette winter image with a little grunge thrown in.

Sunny day but cold and blowing.  The house on the right is the Christmas house.
Just a clear and perfect morning.  We hadn't seen the sun in maybe two weeks.  Taken near the end of the Polar Vortex.

Fallen Star Dust From the Sky

We had our blast from the Dakotas, Minnesota and Wisconsin yesterday.  Now it's headed up to New England, Boston got it today.  We are now getting ready for the Sunday/Monday blast of snow....get this, rain is the deciding factor as to how much we get.  If it goes south it's 6" to 10" and if it track north of Dayton it will be more like yesterday, 5".

All the havoc and this is the picture that I took that I like best.  There are others with shadows or pure white but this has something I have never accomplished, real sparkles in the snow.

The Big Snow...It Came and Left

We had our day or so advanced weather warning/advisory for yesterday, 12/05.  Three bands with different depths expected.  If I got it right, those that weren't suppose to get too much got their butts kick a bit and those of us that were to get 4" to 8" and up to 10" pretty much hung around the 4" mark if you were measuring with a standard ruler and not pushing down on it.  It blew some and it was wet some.  They say it caused a lot of wrecks on the highways but I have yet ever seen a snowflake or ice crystal drive a car or truck yet so I'm hanging in there that it was more human error all along.

One thing the storms bring is opportunity.  The opportunity to get some really nice pictures and or to hone your craft or, as in my case, to work on perfecting your hobby of taking photos.  Snow is one of the most difficult to do.  Frustrating and yet fun to keep trying.  I've tried, now it can go away.

I've been busy thus I didn't get to post this before the snow melted and we get the Ohio weather swing of 60+ degrees tomorrow.  These roses caught my eye last weekend, down below the window that morning.

It all started with the first dusting of snow on the trees.  A bright and clear but cold day ahead.

Then all of a sudden the clouds moved out and turn to wispy looking clouds that could have been painted with a brush.
