Same Shots, Less Detail

It's not always what you see but what you don't see.  These are the same shots but only some detail was removed through blurring and the brilliance of a sun spot (not real) helping with the cause.  Click them for more detail.

Three different software programs were  used.  First was LR 5, then some Photoshop CS5 and finished off with PerfectPhoto Suite 8.

Cemetery In The Woods

Just outside the Hocking Hills KOA campground which is on the edge of Hocking Hills State Park lies this cemetery.  There is no entrance to it except by foot.  One passes it as you enter the campground and if you stay on site 1, 2 or 3 you are able to look down on the markers.  Some are strewn about and some are leaning up against the trees while something less than a dozen are neatly in rows.

A Cardinal and His Mask and a New Beginning of Life. Nothing Else!

The Walk Up To Ash Cave Falls

Two weeks ago this Saturday we took the new motor home on its maiden voyage or shakedown.  We had been having storms and figured that this Mothers Day weekend was going to be soggy.  Saturday started out with rain in the forecast so the couple that we were with thought it best to go to Ash Cave first.  since we were in the hills and the trail up to the falls was in heavy foliage the lighting early in the day wasn't the best, especially since it was overcast as well.  This is a shot of the stream that flows from the falls.  They aren't huge at all and if there is a small drought then they don't flow at all.

A Spot Light In A Tree

It was Mothers Day and the
rains had stopped.  The sun was
out and bright giving the sun the
ability to be a strong beam of
light.  Bright enough for the
parking pad under this pine tree
to reflect back up into the tree
letting the bark be illuminated.

A Lucky Shot?

I was trying to get a shot of a truck in a field using my highest ISO when all of a sudden I saw that the moon was coming up.  I didn't realize that the clouds were thinner than I perceived.  While taking its rise from behind the trees I noticed that it was highlighting the edges of the clouds which generally try to get.  Then, from out of the darkness I see a blip of brightness.  You be the judge to see if you like it.

Shot at 12800 ISO, 1.0 sec, f-18, 333 mm ( had a 1.4x teleconverter on my 18 to270mm Tamron) and was hand held.

Hocking Hills.....Again!

As we were heading towards the cemetery that was mentioned in the last posting we came upon this huge fungi on the side of a tree.  I wanted to go back and get another shot of it with less light present, this was shot just after lunch.

Camping in Ohio

Just bought an RV for the two of us.  We had one in the early 90's but didn't get to use it much as I pretty much worked 7 days a week for 10 to 12 hours a day and in some cases more.  At any rate, now that we have more time together we thought we would try this mode of travel again.  One thing about it.....no bed bug issues and when you add the cost per night along with the fuel we come out even if not ahead some ways.  This is the first outing, the shake down.  We went to Hocking Hills State Park but stayed in a KOA.  It was about 2 hours away, below Columbus, OH and real close to Logan, OH.

Moon over Hocking Hills.....

Ash Cave Falls.  Easily traversed to where Old Man's Cave is much harder.

Local resident.  He was standing guard over the next photo.

These may be the campers that never left.  As the story goes Hocking Hills is suppose to be haunted.

Maiden voyage shake down.  Just the two of us, nearly a perfect size.  Handles well.
