Editing Flowers in Lightroom %

I love this program.  Almost all, 95%+ of the editing has been done in LR5.  I watermark in PS5 along with any borders.  If you notice, I converted color pictures from color to b/w but I put some color back in on the vase and the centers of the daisies.

Using Lightroom 5 (LR5)

I really like LR5. I laid on the bank which is heavily sloped and was able to straighten this with one click. The grass is actually very green but the tall grass around the pond is nicely colored so I thought I would go with that. Looks more like late summer.

LR5 for the next picture but I didn't have to do too much to it.

One lonely frog resting with the ducks. Notice he's on the very end. Right after this another duck came up and nipped him on the butt and he left.

Super Moon Shots

This was the first night of the Super Moon, Saturday.  We had rain and clouds all day.  I wanted a lower angle but it wasn't to happen and yet, I still like this one.  A little errie.......  There is an earlier post of the moon where the moon got above the clouds, the sky cleared off nicely.  It was moments after this shot.

This shot and the others below were taken on Sunday night when we still had a 98% moon.  I liked this one because I have the moon through the trees.  Also to note here is that it is a tad over an hour later on the second day thus the sky is darker and the sky had a better chance to clear off.  Weather was better on Sunday.

No editing at all here.  Right out of the camera other than the canvas size (border) and watermark (name).  I tried other things in editing like opening the exposure to see if I could get light on the trees but just didn't like it.  In hindsight I might drop the canvas size.

I moved to another location to get a tree in my yard in the picture.  The moon is more to the left of the notch of the tree line out in the distance.  As you can see, the sky was almost perfect with just enough clouds to give reflections etc.

I took over 50 shots and am still processing them in my likes and discards.

2nd Night of the Supermoon

The previous posting was for the first night of the "supermoon".  The moon didn't show in this area until late because of the clouds but Sunday gave us a better opportunity.  I wanted a low in the horizon shot.  You get the color of the atmosphere as well as the optical illusion of the moon being bigger.  I still had to contend with the clouds but they actually became useful.

I have shots from last night which is where the moon will still be 98% a supermoon.

Another Super Moon

This Saturday and Sunday as the moon comes up there is a small window of opportunity to see the moon looking larger.  It makes for a great photo op if you have a clear sky at the horizon level.  It will make the moon look larger and maybe give it some color as it picks up the particles in the air.

Tonight I took a shot through a southern window and then the shadow on the door and wall of a room with my shadow cast in the light of the moon.

An Early Breakfast

Nothing like the morning light other than the light at the end of the day.  Next would be finding the wildlife starting to stir.  Here is a Heron getting an early start on the day.

Haven't seen this in a few years.  When we first built this house we would see them in the fall.  They would travel along this tree line to the left and go graze with the sheep at a farm.  Pretty neat to see them the sheep and a couple of Alpaca's together.  They are nearly 1000 yards or more away.  Hard to pull out at this time of day.  Sun was behind some storm clouds moving in.

Neighbors Talking

Too much back light gives one the opportunity to just do a silhouette of two neighbors talking at a graduation party.
