The Moon, Clouds and Fall Colors

The evening moon in mid-October here in southern Ohio.  Rained earlier today and then cleared off late in the afternoon.

2nd Night of the Supermoon

The previous posting was for the first night of the "supermoon".  The moon didn't show in this area until late because of the clouds but Sunday gave us a better opportunity.  I wanted a low in the horizon shot.  You get the color of the atmosphere as well as the optical illusion of the moon being bigger.  I still had to contend with the clouds but they actually became useful.

 I have shots from last night which is where the moon will still be 98% a supermoon.

After the Rains

I took a series of shots of the moon a couple of nights ago but failed to reset my cameras Quality setting. I usually shot in RAW but the camera was set to its smallest pixels. Anyway, the shots came out pretty good, just small.

 This one is actually looking down on the reflection in a pond. Only ripples are from the ducks that seem to be active all night, feeding and staying alert of predators.

 Tried a boarder here but not really satisfied with it. 

Moon

This is pretty much right out of the camera. In my opinion, considering the lens, angle of the shot through the atmosphere and the fact that I didn't do anything other than set the camera to "P", it is good shot with quite a bit of detail. The lens is just a 18-270mm Tamron. A better lens and a more vertical shot would have cleared it up as well as going to manual and doing some detail adjustments but I do like simplicity when it can be had.

Other than cropping some black out of the sky, adding the text at the bottom and knocking the size down, I didn't make changes.

I Was a Day Late, Forget the Dollar

Wasn't able to get the moon the other night so I got it last night. Almost forgot so it is up in the sky a bit. Pushed the camera and found I had a contrail in the images to.
