Red Tailed Hawk

I could make this more clear by showing the results but I will just say this bird nailed a duck last night and finished it off this morning. Not real sure when the kill happened exactly as I discovered the corpse nearly, if not, after dark. Most of the ducks that have been hanging around the pond out back have been gone for the last couple of days. Maybe they saw this raptor hanging around overhead.

A young duck showed up during the day but no others. You can tell from the feathers that the dead duck is young but that is about it. It is amazing as to how clean these creatures can pick carcass.

It is a quite magnificent bird of prey I must say.

1941 Packard

 While attending the local Concours D`Elagance at
the Carrillon Park I saw this 1941 Packard convertible sedan. It is the model 120.  There are two museums in Dayton that most people don't know about. One is a Porsche museum which I was lucky enough to get to tour last year. The other is about a block away and that is a Packard museum of which I have two tickets that will admit one each. I need to use them. Make note to ones self, call and check out the ours of operation. I believe there is another Packard museum in Indiana. Need to check that out too.

Biker's Leather

These are shots of some leather work on a Harley that was on display at a local festival. I would guess the guys name was Henry but then there is also the name K Smith on another piece. Since there is a R.I.P. work, maybe there is some honor in mentioning one of the names for someone that has died. No matter, the work is really nice, so nice I didn't take a picture of the bike. Just a white Harley with lots of chrome.

                                                      

            

Turn Signals

I went to a car show last weekend. It was the Dayton Concours De`Elegance at the Carrillon Park. This is a setting with an old Erie Canal setup, the Wright Brothers bicycle shop look a like some trains and other replicas of the late 19th and early 20th century. It has lots of trees so it is ideallic in nature. This year being as dry as it has been made it a tad dusty for the cars. You can see the haze on the fender in the side shot more so than the over the top shot. Clouds kept it very comfortable but made it difficult to get the shot with or without the polarizing lens. Ended up giving up and just stayed with the polaizer.

 

Peek-a-boo

     The morning sun coming up over the trees.
     We have had and are still in a drought situation. This puts a lot of dust into the air. The afternoon and night before we  finally got some needed rain but it didn't help the atmosphere that much.
     I was hoping for a good harvest moon shot but the clouds took care of that and having the rain was more important. It would have been the Harvest Moon on the night of the first day of fall. How unique.

Balloon

This morning we caught a balloonist just north of here and I followed it with my camera until it was a mile or so south of our house. I wanted to get more of the balloon lobes to catch the sun.

The camera was set on ISO 400, 1/500 shutter speed and the f-stop was f-9. Focal length was 270mm.

Morning Glow

We were starting our first day of the three day community garage day sale. Up at 6, eat, outside around 7 to start getting everything that needed or should be outside placed before the opening bell at 8. It was suppose to be a clear day and it did turn out that way. Not a cloud in the sky so I decided to take some early morning shots.

Both were taken at 6:20 AM. The camera is the Canon Rebel EOS XTi. The lens is my one and only, at least for now, Tamron 18-270mm Di II VCD.

The first picture has the following specs; 3888 x 2592 pixels, 72 dpi resolution, f-stop 5.6, ISO 1600, focal length of 32mm and a shutter speed of 1/2 sec. Size is 1.17 MB.

The next picture is 2710 x 1368 pixels, 72 dpi, f-stop 5.6, ISO 1600, focal length 32mm and shutter speed 1/2 sec. Size 570 KB.

I have played with the color intensity a bit and plan on trying some Lightroom effects. Afterall, this is my learning curve.
