Earlier this morning there was a photo opp that my wife woke me up for. These are a couple of pics of some ducks taking off into the light of the sun and fog. They go eat breakfast some place else and then return for the day. I was literally looking pretty much directly into the sun. In less than 5 minutes the sun was up high enough to make the fog off the pond negligible. Thought a ND filter would have been nice but....

September Fogs in Ohio
Fog in Ohio is very common in Ohio during the months of September and October but more likely in September. We recently had a couple of mornings where some school districts were on the 1 or 2 hour delay. Here in the Dayton area the buses ran on time to no joy of the kids I'm sure.

September Fog
Morning Fog
I looked out to the east and saw a slight haze across the ground. The brightness of the sun was minimal but within minutes the haze had become ground fog and the sun was starting cast shadows.

Morning Fog
It's that time of year around here, somewhere between central Ohio and southern Ohio. Maybe it we should be considered mid-central/southern Ohio. Since Columbus is pretty much in the center of the state and we are to the west of that on I-75 and below I-70 but not down on the Ohio river I like mid-central/southern.
I degress....in late August and through much of September we can get ground fog. You can time it with school starts. The 2 hour delays are inevitable, especially in the areas outside the major city limits where the tempertures cool more.
I got these pics of the fog hanging on the ground over a soy bean field and rising from a pond.
