Here it is, almost Big Bird Day.... Who would have thought that it would be so warm here and that we would have had such a colorful fall. It proves one thing, water in the spring and summer bring on great colors in the fall. Of course most of the trees left with colors, and leaves, are primarily Pear trees.

Finally!
We are finally getting some much needed rain. It wasn't suppose to happen, only a slight chance but late today it poured for awhile. No more now until the remanence of Patricia shows up Tuesday and Wednesday. Then the odds are for about 90% per day.
We've pretty much peaked this week in fall colors but unless you got up early and trekked out to the woods or real late in the day the sun was just too bright, however, today's cloud cover was perfect for bringing the colors out. It was a good day for fall colors or taking pictures of cars but the car shows have all but wrapped up for this year. Let there be clouds when wanting color in your images. The rain can hold off.

In the Spot Light
The spot light is on the table. Simple but perfect. She, the wife, has the right touch for decorating but she won't take any credit.
All the right colors for the season, no wonder it is one of the favorite times.

The Moon, Clouds and Fall Colors
The evening moon in mid-October here in southern Ohio. Rained earlier today and then cleared off late in the afternoon.

Fall Is Upon Us
I looked through the window the other morning and then looked through the grasses. On the other side of this was a world waiting to be part of a near perfect day.
This was taken by a friend that is just getting into photography. Boy, for a beginner he's doing great. The following pictures were taken near Hocking Hills State Park which is located in the lower central part of Ohio. It's east of Athens Ohio which has a well know college party school located in it.
Another angle from the same spot. Our foliage will be in full peak by the end of the month. This was just taken last weekend.
Like the caption says at the bottom of the page, a little playing around with some HDR effect. Colorful!

It's Fall, Pumpkins, Colors and Cloudy Weather
Took the picture of the pumpkins for the wife's Facebook image. Pumpkins and gourds were plentiful this year and of a very large variety.
Morning clouds let some light through but within an hour of this shot the gaps closed up and it drizzled off and on the rest of the day. Supposedly we are being affected by the storm in the gulf that will go up the Appalachian trail.
Finally we have some colors showing. If you could see this zoomed out you would not see this much color. There is a tree line on the other side of the soybean field in the distance that has one spot of color for now. We have another week or so before we get real color going here in southern Ohio.

Getting Ready for Fall
This is from a Smoke Tree that I have trimmed to a bush. The light was very low when I took this, nearly *8 PM. I made my 18 - 270mm lens into a macro shooting at 270mm 1/60 shutter speed, f-6.3 and the ISO was 3200. I accepted the fact that I would have some graininess, I actually wanted it. What I really liked was how the sun, just a spot of light, caught the leaves. By the way, I don't use a flash. Only flash I have is the pop up on the camera and with this lens the flash is cut off.
This was the sun bouncing off the bottom of the clouds overhead.

Hanging On with Bright Colors and Some Out of the Norm
This tree is hanging in there. It doesn't want to let go of its beauty but is showing signs of weakening, given into the inevitable....its winter look.
The Burning Bush is staying tough. Of course it is somewhat protected from the winds and cold but its days too are numbered.
A color that is not normally considered a fall color so much. This bush gets lots of little white flowers on each branch which turn into a small berry. The purple berry stays through the winter and then in March the berries start to turn dark brown to black. The birds feast on them, many are Robins, and by mid to late April all is gone and it is time to trim the plant back to about six inches above the ground.

Reflections
Strangest weather I've seen. So hot all summer with little to no rain and it's only the first of September. 90 degrees tomorrow with and high humidity. Fog is setting in tonight. I got this picture of the tree in the back that is turning colors. I just happened to catch the water sitting on the deck railing.

The Last Efforts of Fall
Here it is 3 days before the end of October. This is the month that says color. It's come and now leaving so I tried to grab some shots as we drove from Lebanon, OH home this afternoon. Blur is car traveling at 55 or so, clean shots are pure luck.
A local garden center trying to move the last of their pumpkins. They even have a petting zoo for the little ones as well as the indoor and outdoor shopping areas.
Old house......old look. Had to give it this as I was twisted in the seat and shooting out the back window on the drivers side due to the fact the house is close to the street and we were moving along at a good clip.
The perfect tree....if not it has to be close. Lucky speed shot in the distance.
