It's Been Wet and Now Hot
We had an almost perfect spring if you like cool and wet. Then we had an entrance into summer on Memorial Day when the pools were to open and it was cold and wet. We continued on to the 4th of July and it was fairly decent in temps but.....wet. Here it is near the end of July and up to about a week ago my yard was mowed no less than every 5 days due to the, you guessed it, wet.
Now we haven't totally made up for the drought from last year, according to the local weather experts that tend to take you to school on meteorological activities every night during the weather but in my book the well is full. So, starting last week we went from flood watches to high heat warnings. Yep got over 90 degrees and after 3 days we have a heat wave.
Well today we got both, hot and wet. Not just humid but rain to help increase the humidity. But, in the long run it did cool off. I was able to cook out this evening and not have to fan myself or hold an umbrella up. Suppose to be real nice tomorrow.....82 and sunny.
A front move in and over heading east.

The sun tries to peek through the clouds.
As a last ditch effort the sky tries it's best to frighten those below.

Raindrops dancing on a tables edge.

Left Overs
If all the clouds could have gotten together today we could have had one heck of a thunderstorm. Fortunately they were unorganized too much. Where the clouds weren't the sky was bright and clear.

Trying To Come Out
The sun is trying to come out, there is blue sky showing, however, those clouds just want to be squeezed and low and behold.....it rains.
Of course I have to set the true mood since the blue sky didn't stick around but the clouds did and with backup.
Moods
We have had nearly two and a half weeks of clouds and rains. As one of the last storms past and the clouds began to clear to the west I took this picture to the east and decided I needed to set the mood for the area. No rainbows, just clouds. The sun was peaking through a slit causing only a bright spot in the lower clouds leaving the upper clouds and the terrain darker......as usual this year.

Blue Sky and Clouds
These clouds give the sense that it's summer and rain is emminent but looking at the trees you can see leaves are missing. We had 6 inches of snow Sunday, here in southern Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. We're so close to Kentucky that many people talk with a twang and a lot are considered transplants with visas.
I got this shot of the moon by chance. I just happened to look out the window and there it was. Haziness from the clouds and low light conditions. I enhanced the blue sky a tad but not much. I was pretty much this way.

Morning Glory
As day breaks the sun has to compete with the clouds. Hopefully it's warmth will be allowed through on this February morning.
The snow that was here for two weeks has gone and we are starting to see more sun, somewhat of a sign that the transition from hard winter to the end of winter may be starting to progress. Steady mid thirty degree temps is a good sign too.
There's warmth in these clouds.

After the Rains
I took a series of shots of the moon a couple of nights ago but failed to reset my cameras Quality setting. I usually shot in RAW but the camera was set to its smallest pixels. Anyway, the shots came out pretty good, just small.
This one is actually looking down on the reflection in a pond. Only ripples are from the ducks that seem to be active all night, feeding and staying alert of predators.
Tried a boarder here but not really satisfied with it.

Mid-September Shot
Two more months and 4 more shots will end my twice a month look at the sun coming up. This shot almost looks more like a sunset in some ways with the colors as they are. The sun has moved quit a few degrees south of were it was just a month ago. Amazing how it doesn't show and then all of a sudden you notice it. Interesting feature here is the heaviness of the clouds. Real thin areas are light blue and the dark areas look more ominous like storm clouds. As it turned out this day became very windy and quite chilly. We helped neighbors with a garage sale and were very cold. Temps were in the low to mid 60's but should be more like the 70's. Trees appear to be early this year, normally the changing doesn't take place until late Sept. to the early part of October.

What Do You See?
I posted this on Facebook stating that I had too much time on my hands and recieved a comment from a friend. I said I saw a puppy dog running but he said he saw a lion. He asked or said he remember laying around as a kid and finding images in the clouds but he had a question for me.....he wanted to know if I was "partying" at the time and if he hinted at the possibility that I may have had some sort of aid in my partying.
Well, with the aid of anything or not, what do you see.

Billowing Clouds
They seemed close enough to reach up and touch and yet you feel that if you do you might get sucked into their churning furry. About 3" of rain in 39 minutes and supper high winds. I have been in many storms but have only seen rain truely go horizontal like this did on TV. The pond beside our house rose 2' in about an hour. When the rains stopped it was like turning off a switch, just like the switch the storm threw when it turn off the power. The air became stifling hot, humid and still. It stayed this way for us for 18 hours. A total of 75,000 without power and some 21 hours later there were still 5,500 powerless. Only good thing, today was cooler with lower humidity.

Snow or Rain
The weather people were calling for some snow possibly today. Seems like we can always tell what type of weather we are going to have by our clouds. High wispy ones are generally good weather and low broke pillowy dark clouds always say winter or a late fall storm in on the way.
Clouds that look like they almost never end, or very cottony looking ones, those say thunder clouds which means rain. Well, these are the pictures of the clouds yesterday afternoon. I even changed one to get that wintery feeling but they still say RAIN. It rained right after I took this and this morning they said, no proof, that there were snow flakes seen.
