Missed by a Day

This was yesterday afternoon. Sun coming from the west with the storm clouds off to the east. There was no reason to take the monthly photo in the morning because you couldn't see the sun's transition from above the eastern line (the tower in the picture) to the southern hemisphere. As you can see though, the season here in the mid-west has changed. High was 51 and normal is 70 degrees. Possible frost this morning in low lying areas, we didn't get any.

This was shot this morning. What a difference a few hours makes. Yesterday was like I said, really cool if not cold because of a strong wind all day and today is great....cool again with wind but sunshine.....yea! Looking back in the blog you can see how the sun has changed positions in the sky and how the scenery has changed in appearance. We are early for our fall foliage by at least a week if not two.

Two Days Late But Not Forgotten

This is my August first monthly posting of the same shot I have been taking since November of 2010. Suns up, you can see the haze in the air which means IT'S GOING TO BE HUMID AGAIN!

I have been trying to get the rails on on my deck replaced from our hail damage. Not doing too bad except for the heat. At 80+ around 9 AM with the humidity factored in, all one does is sweat. I am not a heavy sweater but within 30 minutes or so my back is soaked. On top of that the heat from the sun feels like someone is holding a torch close to your skin. Very unusual hot feeling, especially in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun has more of an angle.

I took this shot on Monday and almost immediately went out to work on the deck. I have driven deck nails in and had them work back out but not these nails. Some took a pry bar and rubber mallet to persuade them to let go. The new boards went back with screws so if any need replacing in the future they won't need as much persuasion.

First Monthly Installment

As I said, I will be taking a photo of the same shot for the next 12 months. It will be out the same window with all the details being the same that are physically possible, i.e. position of camera, the setup of the camera in mode and focused on the same tower off in the distance. All the while, if the weather changes, so does the image because the camera position won’t change thus if the snow or rain is blowing against it, well you won’t see much. Also, as Dec. and Jan come into play the terrain may get hard to see. The interesting thing to watch it, as long as it can be seen with no clouds, will be the sun rise. In this first picture you can see the brightest spot in the sky is off to the right. It will slowly, way to slow for some of us, creep its way back to the right.
Periodically I may include the “all up to now” post. Maybe quarterly. Also, as I mentioned before, I may do a bi-monthly. I will take the picture but posting it will be whether there is a significant change to be seen. After all, not enough change makes for a dull conversation.
I will give the details here about the image. It will always be taken with my Canon Digital Rebel XTi. The lens will always be my Tamron 18-270mm Di II VCD and will probably have a Focal Length set for 46mm. The shooting mode, even though I really prefer Manual will more than likely stay at Auto or Aperture Priority AE. I can make it look better but I am trying to see what the eye sees.
In this first photo the weather is clear and about 36 degrees. Some frost but it doesn’t show here.
